It’s finally Spring!
Are you as over Winter as I am? Bring on the sunny days and tulips! Here are tips to get you ready for a carefree spring:
In the Garden
- A few weeks before the last frost, add a layer of compost to your flower beds so the soil is rich and healthy when it’s time to plant.
- Once chance of frost has passed, get those veggie and flower starts in the ground and sow your seeds! (Check seed packets for ground temp requirements.)
- Charge up the batteries for your lawnmower and other motorized equipment.
- Inspect your sprinkler heads, irrigation lines and hoses for damage and repair before turning your system back on.
Around the House
- Check your window and door screens for tears and repair or replace as needed.
- Get your AC unit serviced and change your filters. Dust your fans thoroughly.
- Check basement, attic, and any crawl spaces for signs of moisture and creatures that may have snuck in over winter. Remediate as needed.
- Spring cleaning! I know, I’m not excited about it either, but this is the perfect time to clean the fridge, dust those baseboards and hard to reach places, and steam clean the carpets.
- Test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
